Will my child be given swimming badges?
Yes, we are teaching the Swim England Learn to Swim Programme and award badges at the end of each term to reward your child for all their hard work.
Does my child have to wear a swimming hat?
No, but we would request that shoulder-length hair is tied back due to safety reasons.
Can my child wear goggles during the lesson?
Yes, goggles are welcome and encouraged.
What if my child does not enjoy their first few lessons?
Your child may not enjoy their first couple of swimming lessons as they get used to the environment and teacher. Please do not be disheartened as this will only be temporary as they settle into the lesson. Most children enjoy the pool and cannot wait to return next week but should this not be the case, we will of course discuss this situation with you during the settling in period.
What happens if my child cannot attend a swimming lesson?
Any swimming lessons missed are classified as lost lessons. Delfina’s Swim School does not offer replacement lessons for non-attendance.
How do we book and pay for swimming lessons?
Bookings are taken for a termly course of lessons. Payments can be made by debit/credit card or a BACS payment. We do not charge a transaction fee.
Can my child be placed on the waiting list should a place not be immediately available?
Yes, we will contact you as soon as we have availability for your child.
IS THE POOL WARM?
The pool at St John’s School is lovely and warm as it is a hydrotherapy pool.
At what age can children join delfina’s Swim School?
We offer swimming lessons to children aged 3 and over.
Why should I consider swimming lessons for my child?
Unlike other sports, swimming is a vital life skill. It will develop fitness and could save your child’s life. Our aim is to ensure your child is the best swimmer they can be.
How many children are in a swimming lesson?
There will be 4 children in the swimming lesson working with one teacher. (4:1). We keep our classes small which enables us to cover each lesson fully and focus on skills and technique.
How long is the swimming lesson?
The swimming lesson is 30 minutes.
How are your swimming teachers going to deliver the lesson?
In line with government and Swim England guidance.
Should I disclose a medical condition my child has?
Yes, it is important that you notify us of any medical conditions to ensure the safety of your child. This information is kept confidential in accordance with GDPR regulations and our Privacy Policy.
My child has been ill, should I bring them to swimming lessons?
Children must be fit and healthy on the day of their lesson. If your child has been suffering from sickness and diarrhoea, they should NOT swim under any circumstances. Please check with us if you are unsure.
Do I have to stay on site while my child is having their lesson?
Yes you must stay on site for the duration of the lesson.
CAN I WATCH MY CHILD’S LESSON?
We feel that children progress better when their parents are not poolside. We realise and appreciate that this is not ideal for parents, however, it is important for parents to be able to see progression as well as swim awards. Parents can come poolside on the final lesson of the term for children to showcase the skills they have learnt!
